Erica has had a passion for art since she was a child. She has experimented with charcoal, pastels, watercolors, and acrylics, but oil paints are her primary focus. She was introduced to oil painting at ten years old, after learning that her great grandmother had been an avid oil painter in her youth. As she got older, she had less time for art, but she was able to rekindle her love for painting while studying at Fort Hays State University.
While at Fort Hays, she attended a Monet exhibition that inspired her to try a more impressionistic approach with her paintings. Although her time at Fort Hays was cut short due to Covid, Erica has continued to paint in her spare time, drawing inspiration from nature. Her recent work explores symbolism, frequently featuring poppies. She has been branching into more figurative pieces, and has chosen to use a warm, vibrant palette, and expressive strokes.
